The Art of Apologetics is devoted to the defense of the Catholic faith through the use of indirect apologetics. Indirect apologetics is a method of defending the truth by challenging an error in an implicit manner in an effort to avoid defensiveness. An indirect defense is achieved by the following means; the Socratic method of questioning, parables, humor, truth expressed through art and beauty, truth expressed through love, and testimony. Indirect apologetics is best used when a person is motivated to keep a fallacy.
The Art of Apologetics has two battle cries: “Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.” (The Sun, Tzu, The Art of War) and "I want to fight for Jesus…To win for him souls without number"
